What your Peers Think About This Event
Heading into the Career Conference, I felt a little nervous and realldy did not know what to expect. I felt great about my eCareer and was looking forward to this once-in-a-lifetime weekend. My fears subsided immediately after I checked in and went downstairs for meet and greets, lip sync battles and dancing. I met so many amazing people that I have only emailed or spoke to on the phone the last three years. It was great to put so many faces with names. Sunday was filled with so many informative and valuable workshops to attend and, of course, the Diamond in the Rough competition. Senior Leadership from Headquarters shared insights about the future of the USPS. The weekend was professionally perfect and ended with me lucky enough to be awarded one of the four 30 day details to a San Diego District department of my choice.
Business Service Network Representative(A)
I’ve attended the two most recent San Diego District Career Conferences, entering the Diamond in the Rough contest as well as the Shark Tank contest, ultimately being selected as a finalist in both. What this has done for me and my career is immeasurable, opening doors to opportunities I never imagined I’d have. By introducing myself and sharing my ideas not once but twice on this platform, I was able to make a name for myself and establish a valued presence within our organization. Since I’ve participated in these events, I’ve been given developmental detail assignments and projects that allow me to showcase my skills and abilities that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. I highly encourage all employees to attend upcoming events and be open to learn, grow, and develop their Postal careers. If you have something great to offer USPS, why not share it with others and network at the career conference? You have nothing to lose by attending and everything to gain. I hope to see you there!
Administrative Assistant Post Master San Diego
I attended this conference last year and this was my first time. I had no idea of what to expect but it was my best decision ever. As a a career carrier I had no idea that there were opportunities for other positions within the Post Office. Attending this conference changed my whole perspective about the Post Office. My greatest joy was having the opportunity to network with other employees. After attending this event I was asked by my Postmaster Jennifer Pamplin to be a 204B and in December 2017 I was offered a position as a Supervisor of Customer Service. My journey has been truly amazing and a blessing but it’s only the beginning.Thank you for the endless opportunities.
